A Night With My Only "X" : Rurouni Kenshin

This night, I just spent one of the happiest nights of my life... After a decade, I was reunited with my one and only X... Himura Kenshin.

After three torturing months of waiting, Rurouni Kenshin Movie finally premiered on  selected SM Cinemas. I was lucky enough to have watched it at SM Clark, at 9 pm (there were only two viewing schedules, 10 am and 9 pm). I immediately noticed the age bracket of the audience, majority at their mid 20s!

I did not read any review nor had any idea on how the movie would be when I came to watch it. All I know is that Warner Brothers produced it so I somehow assumed this would be an English film... when the flick started, it was in Japanese and English subtitle is flashed. Bit frustrating because I left my glasses at home! Urgggh!!!

The Movie
This is perhaps the best anime adaptation I have seen. The story was amazingly and accurately presented that even my husband (who wasn't a die-hard Samurai X fan) understood the plot, including Kenshin's past where flashback scenes were inserted. I became bit scared this would have the ending of the second OVA: Time & Reflection. Good thing the story line was only up to the early episodes of the anime, just enough to present all the characters. Going back to the movie, it was an epic! Yes there were minor alterations to the original series but man, it was like actually watching those anime come to life! I had my own flashbacks (playing at the back of my mind) on every anime scene I could remember! The actor who played Kenshin had the fierce yet gentle face my heart has been stolen once more by my same eX! I love the manner he draws his sword, the hiten mitsurugi stance, that transformation from clueless to fierce eyes, the speed, everything was very battousai. Thumbs up to Megumi, Yoshke, Saito and Kaori's character as well. I was expecting a taller and better looking Sanosuke however.

Well, it has been a long night for me and for all the viewers as well as it has been a journey back in time for like more than a decade ago. This movie took me back to my childhood days, those anime-gone-crazy moments (ORO!) when there was no internet, no live streaming of every episode. Those times when we had to patiently wait for tomorrow's episode just to know what happens next. Batang 90's days. HighSchool Code name: AnimeGirl :p

I love you Samurai X! The movie was superb I got goosebumps while watching!  Can't wait for the sequel. Just one request. Please, give justice to Kenshin. He deserves a happy ending. :)

BTW, here's a pic of me and my "X" at the Cinema.
